A yellow cab turned a routine ride into a chaotic crash in Midtown on Monday afternoon — slamming into a Duane Reade storefront and sending shoppers scrambling.
The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. on June 2, 2025, when the taxi, heading northbound on Third Avenue, veered off course and jumped the curb at 711 3rd Avenue just past 43rd Street, careening straight into the glass window of the pharmacy chain.
Shocked pedestrians sprinted for safety as the cab barreled onto the sidewalk, according to witnesses. "People were screaming and running — it was like something out of a movie," said one nearby office worker.
Shoppers were still visibly shaken.
NYPD quickly cordoned off the area with crime scene tape, and a tow truck was seen removing the heavily damaged cab from the scene shortly after.
Miraculously, no serious injuries were immediately reported. First responders arrived swiftly.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with authorities. It's unclear what caused the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
