Funeral set for Staten Island boy who drowned in pool

From the Staten Island Advance:
R
yan Pisapia, 3, drowned in a pool at 58 Alysia Court in Rossville last night.

Funeral arrangements have been set for the 3-year-old boy who died last night after he was found floating in the family swimming pool in Staten Island's Rossville section.

Visiting hours for Ryan Pisapia will be Wednesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals in Eltingville.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church in Pleasant Plains. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.

Police say Ryan somehow got into his family's pool at the rear of 58 Alysia Court about 8 p.m. last night.

The party was winding down, and family members were putting together treats for the children in attendance when they realized no one had seen Ryan in a while, an NYPD spokesman said late last night. A search disclosed the tragedy, and the child's lifeless body was scooped from the water.

An off-duty firefighter who lives nearby tried in vain to resuscitate Ryan, who was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.
